American TV giant Oprah is one of a handful of celebrities who has reportedly signed on to create original shows with the company.
Bloomberg reports that stars including Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner and director JJ Abrams are expected to attend the announcement, which suggests they too are involved.
Aniston and Witherspoon are expected to announce a daily breakfast entertainment show named 鈥楾he Morning Show鈥 on the platform.
The Apple News app, which was first introduced to its operating systems years ago, is also expected to include a new subscription model, which will allow access to premium news content and magazines.
The tech company recently announced that it has teamed up with media literacy programs in the US and Europe to better educate young people in identifying fake news and identifying trusted sources.
The CEO of the New York Times, Mark Thompson was critical of the plans.
鈥淲e tend to be quite leery about the idea of almost habituating people to find our journalism somewhere else,鈥 he told Reuters.
鈥淲e鈥檙e also generically worried about our journalism being scrambled in a kind of [blender] with everyone else鈥檚 journalism,鈥 he added.
Despite the criticism, Apple reported its News app on iOS devices and Macs attracts 90 million regular readers.
