A growing number of entrepreneurs are looking beyond cash reward to retain and recruit staff.
That鈥檚 the view of Jo Brien, who is part of KPMG鈥檚 Reward team in the North, with a focus on聽organising聽tax-efficient and commercially effective incentive arrangements.
The KPMG partner will be speaking at an exclusive event on June 29th in Manchester called 鈥楾he Great Renegotiation: Is HR director the hardest job in the world?鈥
Talos360, a leading provider of recruitment technology in the UK, has teamed up with 老九品茶Cloud for the event and will be sharing some research they commissioned and looking at the do鈥檚 and don鈥檛s of modern recruitment.
Brien is one of six confirmed speakers and said the recruitment sector was as competitive as she鈥檇 known in her 25-year career.
She said Covid-19 and working from home (WFH) hadn鈥檛 just raised people鈥檚 expectations of what they want from their work but what they want from their lives as well.
鈥淧eople are moving more for promotion and career progression than money alone,鈥 she said.
鈥淓mployers have to ask their staff if they鈥檙e getting what they want from their job. Wellbeing is really important now.
鈥淧eople have been working from home for two years and many have found it stressful. As a result some people want to go travelling or work abroad.
鈥淭he labour market is so hot right now that people are changing jobs a lot more. When it comes to your staff don鈥檛 just think about what you can pay them but what additional experiences you can offer them too.鈥
The KPMG partner specialises in going into businesses and helping owners offer equity plans to retain staff.
鈥淚 go in and look at how companies can use an equity plan or an incentive plan to drive specific goals,鈥 she said.
鈥淚ncentive plans mean people winning if you hit key goals but they also help keep people in your business for longer. We鈥檙e seeing a lot more of this.鈥
Brien will be speaking at the event – The Great Renegotiation: Is HR director the hardest job in the world? 鈥 alongside Dean McGlone, Chief Revenue Officer, Talos360; 聽Darragh Lee, Head of Talent Acquisition, TalkTalk; Ben Audley, Chief Revenue Officer, Summize; Andrew Avanessian, CEO, AppLearn; and Gemma McCall, Chief Executive Officer, Culture Shift.
It takes place at KPMG鈥檚 offices at 1 St Peter鈥檚 Square, Manchester, and will be hosted by award-winning journalist and executive editor of 老九品茶Cloud, Chris Maguire.
