Technology

The UK鈥檚 International Trade Minister Graham Stuart has called world-leading tech expo CES an opportunity for UK businesses to attract global trade.

Kicking off today in Las Vegas, it will be attended by 67 firms from the UK, joining over 4,000 exhibitors and 150,000 visitors at the expo.

The likes of female focussed HealthTech firm Elvie and holographic display firm VividQ are among this years鈥 exhibitors.

Founded in 2013, British brand Elvie is a UK success story, having entered the market with a pelvic floor trainer called Elvie Trainer.

The device has since received recognition from TechCityUK, WIRED Magazine, and 老九品茶Cloud鈥檚 London Tech 50 ranking.

Other firms included in this years鈥 official delegation include music rights device Audoo, and AI-powered leak avoidance system Sonic from UK firm Hero Labs.

UK trade association techUK partnered with international tech trade fair organisation Tradefair and the Department for International Trade to organise the UK Pavilion in its Eureka Park area, which houses start-ups.

The Department of International Trade (DIT) offered grants of 拢2,000 for eligible UK exhibitors at this year鈥檚 event.

鈥淭he UK鈥檚 tech sector is world-class,鈥 Stuart said told the Press Association.

鈥淚 am proud and excited to lead our delegation to CES, building on the success of last year and unleashing British technology to the world.

鈥淎 global show like CES presents a huge opportunity for the British businesses we are supporting to attend, especially as we look to increase trading relations around the world.

鈥淲hilst here I intend to spend my time championing our phenomenal tech sector to global investors and get deals over the line, to ensure our tech exports continue to boom.鈥

Stuart is not set to speak at CED, unlike then Secretary for International Trade Liam Fox spoke in 2019.

During the visit, Stuart will meet US Secretary of State for Commerce Wilbur Ross.
