Manufacturing

Cornish entrepreneur Sam Baynham has launched a digital platform for the UK manufacturing sector.

ConeX aims to foster new relationships and spark innovation through increased connectivity, building a strong community of manufacturers, product developers, engineers and suppliers across the UK.

Backed by AeroSpace Cornwall via business support and an R&D grant, the portal was launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and counts 160 businesses among its users.

鈥淚f the last few years have shown us anything, it鈥檚 just how powerful collaboration can be, and how resilient the UK manufacturing sector is,鈥 said Conex Portal founder Baynham.

鈥淵es, it has been challenging for manufacturers and service providers alike, however, those who have acted innovatively have remained competitive.聽

鈥淐oneX and our members facilitate collaboration and help realise the strength and depth across the UK manufacturing space.鈥

Members are given their own homepage on which they can include a portfolio, explore the supply chain map and interact with other members – forging connections for projects, gaining exclusive access to events through a personalised calendar and post problems in the forum where experts in their field can share solutions.聽

Gail Eastaugh, director at AeroSpace Cornwall, said: 鈥淐ornwall has always been a stronghold for manufacturing and we are thrilled to support this unique product.聽

鈥淎s manufacturing and engineering in the UK progresses, connectivity and collaboration will be key to ensuring a strong supply chain and ConeX is an innovative solution for all associated businesses. We can鈥檛 wait to see where 2022 takes them.鈥

Currently the platform is operating a free trial for interested businesses to test its benefits. As they continue to grow their offering, during their second phase in February of 2022 a membership fee will be charged.
