Retail giant Currys has agreed a partnership with VoCoVo to roll out its headset technology across its UK stores.

Oxfordshire-based VoCoVo will implement its Series 5 Pro Headset technology after a successful trial in 20 selected stores in a bid to tackle rising rates of shoplifting.

The news comes just days after Greggs announced it would be moving its self-serve food and drinks behind the counter in a number of its stores to deter thieves.

Currys has begun a full rollout of the headsets across all of its UK&I stores and every colleague will be equipped with a headset by the end of May.

It’s hoped the move will allow them to stay better connected and therefore safer on the shop floor.

Matthew Speight, director of UK stores at Currys, said: 鈥淚ncidents of shoplifting and aggression against retail workers are continuing to rise at a completely unacceptable level.

鈥淰oCoVo鈥檚 headsets, alongside a range of other store safety measures, are allowing us to put our best foot forward in protecting colleagues and customers from dangerous situations.聽

鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to be rolling out the headsets to all our stores following positive feedback from the in-store trials.鈥

The solution also serves to improve the in-store experience for customers, as the headsets should help colleagues communicate with ease and efficiency, ensuring customer queries are answered quickly.聽

Call points will also be incorporated throughout stores and will enable visitors to request assistance at the touch of a button, with the notification delivered straight to colleague headsets.聽

Olivia Robinson, head of UK & EU commercial growth, VoCoVo, added:聽鈥淐urrys is one of the most recognisable UK retail brands, known for trading the best tech products.聽

鈥淎s a tech-first company ourselves, we share many values with Currys and are proud to announce this partnership.聽

鈥淲e have enjoyed a successful trial and look forward to continuing to support the full rollout and seeing the impact VoCoVo makes to Currys and its colleagues.鈥
