Digital rights firm Merlin appoints new CEO

Digital music rights agency Merlin has appointed Jeremy Sirota as its new CEO.

The London-headquartered firm offers digital music services and emerging tech firms the means to license independent music.

Sirota joins Merlin from Facebook鈥檚 Music Team, where his led the company鈥檚 digital music strategy. While at Facebook, he led the company鈥檚 efforts to license and acquire recorded music rights from independent record labels and distributors around the world, thereby enabling social music features across its Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, and Messenger brands.

Sirota previously held a number of senior positions at Warner Music Group, culminating in his appointment as SVP and Head of 老九品茶 & Legal Affairs for both Warner-Elektra-Atlantic (WEA), Warner鈥檚 artist and label services division, and Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), Warner鈥檚 indie distribution arm.

On his appointment, Sirota said; 鈥淚 am honored by this opportunity to lead Merlin and serve independents throughout the world. Merlin鈥檚 team of executives and employees are widely respected throughout the music and DSP communities, and I look forward to working closely with them to write the next chapter.
