Appointments

Software development firm ExpectAI has appointed former BP CEO Bernard Looney as chairman of the board.

Looney brings over three decades of expertise in the energy sector and is also currently chairman of Prometheus Hyperscale.

He will work alongside ExpectAI CEO Dr Anand Verma to accelerate the company鈥檚 global expansion plans beginning in the UK, where green growth is expected to be worth 拢37bn annually by 2030.

The London-based business connects billions of open-source public data points in a bid to enable SMBs to make transport, energy and logistical changes that save money and reduce emissions.

鈥淭he energy transition must make economic sense if it is to succeed. This applies to businesses making investment decisions, shareholders directing capital, and customers choosing where to spend their money,鈥 said Looney.

鈥淭hat鈥檚 why I said yes when Dr. Anand Verma – ExpectAI鈥檚 founder and CEO – asked me to take on the role of chairman. ExpectAI鈥檚 mission is clear: higher profits, lower emissions.鈥

ExpectAI鈥檚 mission is to harness AI鈥檚 transformative power to drive sustainable economic growth, making it accessible, simple and profitable for 330 million SMBs globally.

As chairman, Looney will provide counsel as ExpectAI prepares for a growth funding round in Q2 and expansion to the US later in the year.

Verma added: 鈥淲e are thrilled to welcome Bernard as our chairman. His deep global expertise and commitment to innovation align perfectly with our goals.

鈥淏ernard and I share a common vision: using AI to help the world鈥檚 330 million SMBs scale profitably and sustainably.鈥
