Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, has welcomed senior leaders from four of India鈥檚 most innovative tech companies to Manchester to encourage them to set up business operations in the city.

The visit was organised by Greater Manchester鈥檚 inward investment agency MIDAS, to bring the four winners of Deloitte India鈥檚 Technology Fast 50 (DF50) competition, which recognises the country鈥檚 fastest growing and most dynamic tech firms, to the city region.

Indian technology SMEs Arcon Technologies, Serosoft Solutions and Videonetics Technology made up the delegation.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester awarded each of the winners with their remaining prizes, designed to assist them in establishing business operations in the city region. The tiered prize packages offer free or discounted services from companies including MIDAS, The Landing, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Metrolink, amongst others.

鈥淚t鈥檚 very clear to me why these companies were selected as winners 鈥 as they are all doing very exciting and important work that is a good fit for Greater Manchester,鈥 said Mayor Burnham.

鈥淲e are the country鈥檚 fastest growing city region and we have aspirations to be the UK鈥檚 leading digital city region in all of the fields these companies operate within 鈥 education, smart cities and cyber security. We鈥檙e seeking to build on the success we鈥檝e already seen from the Manchester India Partnership over coming years, and I will be visiting India for the first time later this year to do that.鈥

Tim Newns, CEO of MIDAS, added: 鈥淕reater Manchester鈥檚 digital and technology cluster is one of the most significant in Europe, making it the ideal business location for fast-growth Indian companies, and the DF50 competition provides us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the region鈥檚 world-class tech offer in India 鈥 as well as encourage some of the country鈥檚 most innovative and exciting companies to set-up operations within the city region.”
