Several assets of Upad have been acquired by fellow London firm Howsy.com.
James Davis recently began to close Upad down following a personal health scare in 2018, 10 years after founding the business.
Following the acquisition of Urban.co.uk聽in September, venture-backed Howsy.com has moved to buy Upad鈥檚 company name, contracts and operating platform from liquidators.
The purchase sees Howsy founder Calum Brannan add an undisclosed number of landlords, thought to be in the thousands, to his group鈥檚 fast-growing customer base.
鈥淭he Upad brand has a strong and positive reputation.聽 Over the last decade, they built a great name based on a strong focus on customer service and advice,鈥 said Brannan, revealing that it would keep the company鈥檚 name.
鈥淲e won鈥檛 be throwing that away 鈥 in fact, we want to build on it.鈥
He added: 鈥淟etting a property is becoming complex and highly regulated, and less experienced landlords can often find themselves inadvertently on the wrong side of the law.
鈥淏y acquiring the assets of Upad and Urban.co.uk we can provide a broader range of products for landlords, assisting those that are less confident about the process or worried by complex compliance, or providing great value, efficiency and accessibility for others.鈥
