A gaming technology company focused on AI-driven physical animation has closed a 拢6m seed funding round to scale its breakthrough animation technology.

The investment will support London-based Latent Technology鈥檚 development of its 鈥楲atent Behaviour Engine鈥. The round was co-led by AlbionVC and Spark Capital.

Founded just three years ago, the firm looks to provide developers with new workflows to create emergent, real-time animation behaviours with minimal input.聽

Its breakthrough, Generative Physics Animation, enables characters in games to move and respond dynamically, in real time.

The company鈥檚 technology is built on 鈥楶hoenix鈥, its proprietary generative physics animation model currently under development.聽

This system aims to enable autonomous behaviours that respond to the environment in real time.聽

鈥淎I gives us the opportunity to transform not only how developers create games, but also how players experience them,鈥 said Jorge del Val, co-founder and CEO of Latent Technology.

鈥淲hile many companies are using AI to optimise existing workflows, we鈥檙e focused on enabling something fundamentally new – emergent, interactive animation that reacts in real time.聽

鈥淥ur aim is to evolve the animation paradigm towards emergent physical behaviors, opening up new, creative possibilities for developers and dynamic experiences for players.鈥

Latent is currently running a closed beta with select studios and plans to release two additional tech demos later this year to showcase the technology in action and further refine its tools.

Sebastian Hunte, investor at AlbionVC, added: 鈥淟atent鈥檚 technology positions it to become core infrastructure for the future of game development – powering next-gen interactive experiences through real-time, generative animation.聽

鈥淛ust as LLMs have revolutionised content creation, Latent is laying the foundation for a similar leap in animation.聽

鈥淲ith strong early traction and a deeply technical team, we鈥檙e thrilled to support their journey.鈥
