Manchester City have received a tech boost ahead of their top-of-the-table clash against Liverpool.
The Premier League champions are using cloud technology to give their players insight into the opposition as well as plan set-pieces and tactical changes before making substitutions.
The club was already using SAP鈥檚 technology during training and in the dressing room but, following new rules to allow small technology devices at pitchside this season, are now also doing so on the touchline.
鈥淭he players love using SAP Challenger Insights; it gets me ready for the game and gives me a greater understanding about the players I鈥檒l be coming up against,鈥 said City skipper Vincent Kompany.
Sergio Aguero, City鈥檚 all-time record goal scorer, added: 鈥淪AP Challenger Insights helps bring the coaches鈥 instructions to life so I have a constant reminder of how we are approaching each different game.鈥
Manchester City鈥檚 women鈥檚 team uses the same technology as the men鈥檚 team, with stars like Steph Houghton, Jill Scott and Nikita Parris all using the SAP Challenger Insights mobile app.
The club used its bespoke version of SAP Challenger Insights throughout last season鈥檚 record-breaking title-winning campaign.
鈥淭he partnership between Manchester City and SAP continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with technology,鈥 said Bernd Leukert, member of the executive board of SAP SE, products & innovation.
鈥淎s one of the first teams in the English Premier League to bring data onto the touchlines, the club can now access the most complete view of an opponent鈥檚 setup during a match to optimise training, preparation and performance.鈥
