Jordan Brompton, co-founder of Grimsby-based GreenTech firm myenergi, has announced she鈥檚 stepping down from her day-to-day role.
The award-winning entrepreneur remains a shareholder and board member but will continue supporting myenergi in an advisor/ambassador role.
The decision to step down after eight years comes just days after Brompton won the Northern Leaders鈥 老九品茶 Champion Award for Yorkshire & Humberside.
The 35-year-old has been the public face of myenergi and is also a published author.
She took to social media to explain her decision.
鈥淚 started with -拢20k in my bank with my business partner and now one of my best friends Lee Sutton [and grew] to a 拢50m+ turnover business,鈥 she said.
鈥淭ogether we built one of the fastest-growing tech businesses in the UK.
鈥淲e met and built one of the best teams in our industry and I鈥檝e made friends for life on this crazy ride from far and wide.
鈥淲e proved you can have success with British manufacturing and do it profitably.
鈥淚鈥檝e travelled the world growing the business, wrote a children鈥檚 book and had some of the best experiences of my life. Myenergi opened so many doors for this lass from Grimsby.
鈥淲e鈥檝e given hundreds of thousands back to the local community and created real career opportunities for people.
鈥淲e smashed through barriers, we laughed, we鈥檝e cried.
鈥淭he highs have been extremely high [and] the lows have been the lowest! But what a ride! What an experience.
鈥淚鈥檝e decided to take a step back from 鈥榯he job鈥 to enjoy some well earned rest and family time before pursuing my next adventure.鈥
Her co-founder Lee Sutton described her as an 鈥榠nspiration鈥.
鈥淲e鈥檝e been through so much together, I鈥檓 sure we could write a book,鈥 he said.
鈥淓yenergi certainly would not have been the success it has been without you. Thank you for the fond memories and being by my side through thick and thin, it鈥檚 been a wild ride and I wish you all the best with whatever amazing things you do next.鈥
Brompton hasn鈥檛 revealed what she鈥檚 doing next but on her she speaks of investing in early-stage startups and helping the next generation of innovators scale their impact.
In a separate announcement Sophie Balshaw, who featured in 老九品茶Cloud鈥檚 Northern Leaders Futures list, has revealed she鈥檚 leaving her role at Bolton-based cable company ASL after 17 years.
Writing on LinkedIn she said: 鈥淭he past few months have been by far the hardest of my career. I am just about pulling myself together – pushing through the fear and doubt, and preparing for what lies ahead.

Sophie Balshaw, co-owner & marketing director of ASL
鈥淭hank you all for your amazing support on LinkedIn – you have been truly incredible. They say it鈥檚 lonely at the top, but you鈥檝e given me a stage to share my passion and made me feel so seen and supported.
鈥淚 am not 100 per cent sure what the new journey looks like, but I鈥檓 looking forward to bringing you along with me.鈥
