Tandem Bank has relocated its London headquarters to Russell Square as it plots rapid expansion.
The challenger bank has moved from Kings Cross to a 16,000 sq ft office in Russell Square and aims to double its headcount to 230 people in 2019 then more than 300 in 2020.
The company says the move offers greater flexibility of layout to facilitate its agile way of working, including breakout spaces, quiet spaces, suave meeting rooms and enhanced IT infrastructure.
Tandem鈥檚 teams are made up of product, technology, marketing, operations and support with an integrated approach to development.
However the bank fears future growth could be hampered by the lack of direct access to EU talent.
“Tandem has seen unprecedented growth since we launched 16 months ago and have ambitious plans for 2019,鈥 said Tandem Bank chief people officer Dan Atkinson.
鈥淚n order to grow, Tandem need direct access to talented people and it鈥檚 getting harder to recruit EU nationals.
鈥淲e expect the UK tech talent pool to narrow further and feel that the UK government is not doing enough to support one of the key drivers of the UK economy.
鈥淭here is a big danger that our leadership in Fintech could be eroded by government inaction.鈥
Tandem recently said it is looking to raise funding to accelerate growth after reaching 500,000 customers.
Co-founder and CEO Ricky Knox (pictured above)聽said: 鈥淭andem is made up of people who are motivated by helping consumers improve their lives with money.
鈥淎ny of our team could go to one of the big banks and probably earn more money, but they choose to work at Tandem because we operate as a purpose-driven tech business.
鈥淲e have an agile, collaborative approach and can engineer change quickly.
鈥淲ith our new offices, we have the perfect base to nurture our growing teams and attract new talent from the pool available.鈥
