Plusnet chief executive Andy Baker has left the firm while almost all the telecoms firm鈥檚 Sheffield head office staff will be transferred to parent company BT.
In six years at the firm Baker doubled turnover to 拢410 million while the company鈥檚 workforce also doubled to almost 1,700 people in Sheffield and Leeds.
The streamlining will see all non-call centre workers move into the parent company from February 2020, with redundancies 鈥渧ery unlikely鈥.
鈥淭he time is right,鈥 said Baker, whose role will become defunct. 鈥淚 have had an amazing six years. But I didn鈥檛 want to outstay my welcome. This is about the next chapter in Plusnet鈥檚 evolution.
鈥淧lusnet can鈥檛 continue to grow the way we have so far. We have got find a way to deliver a better model.
鈥淣o office closures are proposed as part of this move and听颈苍惫别蝉迟尘别苍迟听in frontline services will continue to be treated as a priority in the coming months and years.鈥
Marc Allera will continue as CEO of BT鈥檚 consumer division, which includes Plusnet and EE.
