North East聽digital business network Digital Union is rolling out a series of events for businesses in the region keen to brush up on their聽social media skills.
Following the success of previous social media workshops hosted by business support agency Generator, which runs Digital Union, the #DUSocial series is set to launch in January. The workshops consist of monthly half-day masterclasses offering high-quality guidance and expert insight into social media.
The first #DUSocial session, which will take place on Thursday 31 January at Tyneside Cinema, will focus on content creation, offering strategic advice and practical tips on how to create posts that will drive engagement with audiences on specific platforms.
鈥淪ocial media can be a confusing and daunting world, even for those who work within digital marketing and communications roles,鈥 said Generator CEO Jim Mawdsley.
鈥淗aving polled businesses across the region, the #DUSocial series has been designed with their needs in mind, and will cater for all 鈥 from experienced marketers, to those with little to no social media experience too.鈥
Digital Union has partnered with some of the most forward-thinking social media minds from across the country to speak at the events, providing a unique opportunity for North East businesses to hear from nationally renowned, trailblazing social media innovators.
The first session will be delivered by creative technology and communications expert Christian Payne who runs Documentally.
鈥淚鈥檓 really looking forward to working with the Generator team again. The social media space is continually evolving,鈥 said Payne.
鈥淭here’s more to just being sociable with your media. We need to think networks over audience and how content can resonate and make those you intend to connect with actually feel something.鈥
Mawdsley said: 鈥淭he UK is seen as a global leader when it comes to social media but being in our North East bubble, it鈥檚 often hard to keep up with our London counterparts.
鈥淏ut as Brexit uncertainty continues to cast a shadow over the business community, it鈥檚 vitally important for businesses to take control and adopt a proactive approach and social media goes a long way in helping businesses get noticed.
鈥淥ur aim with the #DUSocial series is to arm businesses with the skills and inspiration they need to make themselves heard on social media.鈥
