Hybrid fitness app ROXFIT has doubled its user base since closing an 拢800,000 funding round in May, as demand surges for tools tailored to the fast-growing HYROX-style training scene.聽
The round was led by DSW Ventures with co-investment from York Angels, alongside additional angel backing from across Europe and the US.
The Leeds-based platform has lifted downloads from 90,000 to more than 180,000 since taking on the cash, while expanding its team from two to eight people.聽
Launched just last year, the SportTech positions itself as a companion for hybrid athletes, offering detailed race-result analysis, structured training plans, custom workout building and PaceMe – a smartwatch pacing feature.
The company has now released ROXFIT 2.0, a major update that adds a redesigned social home feed, a more advanced AI training engine, deeper analytics and upgraded race-day tools.聽
The move comes as hybrid fitness participation continues to accelerate, with organisers of events such as HYROX reporting athlete numbers doubling annually for the past five years to around 800,000 this season, with projections rising to 1.8 million by 2026/27.
Sky Bet & Paddy Power owner ‘very disappointed’ by UK Budget
鈥淲hen I started racing in 2022, it was clear the tools hybrid athletes needed simply didn鈥檛 exist,鈥 said Ben Wilson, co-founder of ROXFIT.聽
鈥淭hrough ROXFIT, we are changing that, and ROXFIT 2.0 is another important step forward.
鈥淭he funding and support from DSW Ventures have been significant in helping us progress.聽
鈥淭heir experience in scaling digital products has allowed us to stay focused on building the best possible experience for our users, while benefitting from strategic guidance that helps us move faster.鈥
Doug Quinn, partner at DSW Ventures, added: 鈥淗ybrid fitness is one of the fastest-growing community sports in the world, and ROXFIT 2.0 brings everything these athletes need into one place.聽
鈥淲orking with Ben and the team as they鈥檝e scaled the platform to over 180,000 users has been fantastic.聽
鈥淩OXFIT represents exactly the kind of high-growth business we鈥檙e committed to backing, giving founders the strategic support they need to scale confidently and move quickly.鈥
The business is targeting 210,000 users by the end of the year and expects to grow headcount to around 15 as it builds out a more fully featured AI training interface, including an in-app assistant aimed at delivering more personalised coaching for athletes.
