A London-based firm pioneering holographic cold data storage has been awarded a 拢550k Smart Grant by Innovate UK for its HoloDrive project in partnership with data centre consultants TechRe.
The investment will help to fund the continued development of HoloMem鈥檚 product, HoloDrive, which is a future fit cold data storage technology that uses infinitely readable holograms to store data at ultra-high density with zero energy.
The solution uses low energy and low-cost laser diodes with sustainable and recyclable recording materials.聽
This is said to result in an energy-efficient, high-speed data storage solution, with the materials鈥� thermal stability resulting in power consumption reductions of 90 per cent and a 99 per cent drop in annual costs.聽

The plug and play solution for data managers was founded by CEO Charlie Gale, a serial entrepreneur who was previously a design engineer at Dyson.聽
