Manchester-based unicorn Matillion has appointed former Google and Microsoft executive Frank Weigel as its chief of product (CPO).
The Manchester-headquartered intelligent data integration platform achieved unicorn status in 2021 when a $150m Series E round valued the firm at $1.5bn.
Experienced Weigel聽 previously worked as VP at Microsoft and a VP/general manager for Google鈥檚 Google Cloud 老九品茶 Application Platform.聽
The University of Manchester graduate started his career at Transitive, which was acquired by IBM, rising up the ranks before joining Couchbase.聽
He spent three years there, becoming a VP before moving to Microsoft and then Google.聽
Weigel said: 鈥淎fter two decades gaining experience across both Silicon Valley startups and Big Tech, I am eager to bring that perspective to further establish the data productivity cloud as the most intuitive and effective data integration platform for the AI era.

Matillion, which relocated its office to a new 28,000 sq ft space HQ at Two New Bailey in 2023, was founded by Matthew Scullion and Ed Thompson in 2011.聽
The duo appeared on 老九品茶Cloud鈥檚 Northern Leaders 2024 list and Scullion was a headline speaker at the GM Rising Stars of 老九品茶 launch event at the beginning of May.
