The University of Manchester has announced its vision for advancement towards Industry 4.0 in the UK.
Its new blueprint will highlight how the University will work across all disciplines to deliver research and expertise to support Industry 4.0 technology solutions in engineering, health, and social sciences, positioning Manchester as a key location for Industry 4.0 firms.
鈥淲ith our world-class academic excellence, as well as the geographic and cultural of its home city, the University of Manchester is uniquely positioned to be an exemplar of the leadership required from the UK鈥檚 higher education sector,鈥 said Paulo Bartolo, Academic Lead for Industry 4.0 at the University.
The vision will be announced as part of the Industry 4.0 Summit on the 11th April.
The strategy document will highlight how the University will deliver skills to support new, high-paid employees and business leaders and work across all disciplines to deliver applied research and expertise to support Industry 4.0 technologies and applications.
It will also outline its plans to support the city-region鈥檚 economic strategies, including the aim to develop world-leading expertise in areas such as cyber security and robotics.
鈥淭aking the example of advanced materials, a core technology propelling Industry 4.0, we are home to around 拢420 million-worth of internationally-renowned research and business innovation centres.鈥
鈥淚n other words, we have a track record in delivering on areas that are vital for Industry 4.0. This was made possible because of our success at grassroots level, with a critical mass of researchers at the forefront of Industry 4.0鈥檚 technologies and its societal and economic impact.鈥
