Cambridge Enterprise, the innovation arm of the University of Cambridge, is set to open its first-ever London office in Kings Cross.
The news comes as the company – with its new base now 48 hours from the city鈥檚 university and next door to Google鈥檚 European headquarters – looks to strengthen its position to compete on the global stage for capital.
It is aiming to propel more Cambridge innovations and research to commercial success with world-changing impact.聽聽
The organisation鈥檚 new office is part of a strategy to take Cambridge鈥檚 expertise to the world and support innovators to tackle the challenges facing the world today.聽
This comes shortly after the University of Cambridge was recently named as one of the leading universities for spinouts, according to data by the Royal Academy of Engineering in collaboration with Beauhurst.聽
In 2024 alone, Cambridge created 26 new companies while the East of England secured 35% of all total investment for spinouts.聽
Last year was the best on record for Cambridge-founded tech companies, raising $2.2bn – double that of the total in 2023 and ahead of 2021鈥檚 previous $2bn record.聽
