A new creative tech campus in the heart of Manchester鈥檚 St. John鈥檚 neighbourhood has officially opened its doors.

Campfield鈥檚 opening day showcased events, panels, keynote speakers and free coworking, bringing together household names in the tech and creative sectors for a full programme of industry talks and discussion.

The event also played host to a welcome address from Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council.

Developed by Allied London and operated by Department, Campfield has transformed three historic buildings in the heart of St. John鈥檚 into a campus of high-spec offices, media studios, production facilities, event venues and coworking spaces.聽

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Blue Peter has moved its production to the campus.

Michael Ingall, chairman of Allied London, and Craig addressed a full house to mark the occasion and Campfield was supported by the Council鈥檚 Culture in the City 颈苍颈迟颈补迟颈惫别.听

Return of the Mike: Michael Ingall is back

鈥淭he reopening of Campfield is both a celebration of our city鈥檚 history, the very buildings that helped create the Manchester we know today, and an ambitious statement of intent for our city鈥檚 future,鈥 said Craig.

鈥淏ringing these important grade-II listed market halls back into use sensitively and sustainably preserves our heritage, while supporting our growth agenda by creating more than 130,000sqft of workspace that will further bolster Manchester鈥檚 renowned and growing tech, digital and creative sectors.聽聽

鈥淚mportantly, Campfield is also about creating opportunities for Manchester people to access great jobs, supporting our residents to grow and thrive. Through subsidised desks and memberships, local people, entrepreneurs and start-ups can each be part of this ecosystem.聽

鈥淭his is about removing barriers and opening doors to make sure our residents can be part of the city鈥檚 success.鈥

Ingall added: 鈥淐ampfield is a world-class campus rooted in Manchester and built for global impact. It has transformed this historic landmark into a hub for deep tech, media innovation and social progress.聽

鈥淲e are grateful for the vital support from Manchester City Council, which has allowed us to create a place where ambitious businesses can grow, talent can thrive and Manchester can lead on the world stage.鈥
