A company has launched its technology which charges portable devices聽wirelessly through table surfaces in the UK.
CHARGit鈥檚 technology allows for multiple devices, such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, to charge simultaneously through surfaces without the need for cables.
It works by fitting a unit under a table or counter surface to create a charging zone.
The launch event at聽the Interchange co-working space聽in聽Camden, North London allowed business partners and influential figures in the firm鈥檚 target industries to interact with the technology to gain an appreciation of how it works.
鈥淟aunching a new technology is always an exciting prospect and it was great to see so many people come along,鈥 said Hayley Freedman, CHARGit director.
CHARGit is targeting businesses which are looking to offer wireless charging as a service to enhance their customers鈥 experience.
Non-compatible devices聽can be charged by plugging a CHARGkey into them.聽No precise alignment聽is聽needed聽for聽charging聽to begin.
The CHARGhub transmitter can be installed on to the underside of any non-metallic surface such as a wooden table or counter.
Dell, HP and Lenovo have all begun incorporating聽wireless charging compatibility as standard into their laptops.
鈥淭he best way to understand how something works is to see it in action, and we were able to demonstrate several of our CHARGhub units, which allowed people to appreciate just how straightforward and convenient wireless charging is, as well as the benefits it can offer to businesses looking to offer it as a service,鈥 added Freedman.
CHARGit recently installed wireless charging at luxury hotel LaLiT London, situated near Tower Bridge, which has had the technology fitted into its reception area, two meeting rooms, a lounge, and the restaurant as well as the spa and the gym.
Plans are in place for it to be rolled out into all of the hotel鈥檚 suites.
Freedman added: 鈥淔or a luxury hotel of LaLiT鈥檚 calibre to get straight on board with CHARGit鈥檚 offering is a fantastic endorsement.
鈥淎t present, we primarily see ourselves as a venue differentiator.
“Wireless technology will soon be commonplace, but for now, those who invest will benefit from being at the forefront of a technological revolution in the way we charge our electronic devices.鈥
People will soon demand wireless charging facilities from food and drink venues and hotels, according to the CEO of rival wireless charging firm Chargifi.
