Everton Facebook Live stream reaches 1.5m

Premier League聽football club Everton live-streamed a game online for the first time on聽Facebook Live聽this聽Sunday with 1.5 million fans tuning in to watch.

Playing at Goodison Park, the team drew 2-2 with Spanish side Sevilla in its final pre-season friendly before the 2017/18 season.

Fans聽could watch the live match via Everton鈥檚 official Facebook page.

The club say more than 1.5m tuned in, although the platform offered the streaming聽potential聽to reach 3.4m.

Those watching online were mostly based in the club鈥檚 home country of the UK, but large numbers of fans聽viewed the match聽from Thailand, USA, Spain and Singapore and other countries around the world.

This was the team鈥檚聽first first-team game to be available via the聽social media platform鈥檚 Live function and offered fans additional benefits.

These included the opportunity to interact with commentary team Darren Griffiths and former Everton midfielder Ian Snodin throughout.

Facebook Live posts from fans were also read out by Griffiths and Snodin live on air.

A聽special one-off commemorative kit was also shown to those watching, designed to celebrate 125 years of Goodison Park.
