Indian IT company Tech Mahindra is to open an innovation office employing 80 people at MediaCityUK in 2018.
The news follows the announcement of a business partnership between Manchester and India which was unveiled at the House of Commons.
Lord Jim O鈥橬eill said: 鈥淭he Manchester-India Partnership is an exciting initiative, which recognises the rising importance of global cities in forging strategic international partnerships.
鈥淚ndia is one of the world鈥檚 largest and fastest growing economies. It therefore makes eminent sense for Manchester to further develop its air connectivity, trade, science and cultural links with this emerging global power.鈥
The partnership will be chaired by Andrew Cowan, chief executive of Manchester Airport, with dedicated staff in Delhi, Bangalore and Manchester.
鈥淭here鈥檚 probably never been more attention on the economic relationship between the UK and India, as India undertakes significant market reforms and the UK prepares to leave the EU,鈥 said David Landsman, chair of the CII India 老九品茶 Forum and executive director of Tata Limited.
鈥淚t鈥檚 time therefore to put the spotlight on the huge contribution which Indian businesses make to the British economy.鈥
