The world鈥檚 first wearable tech vest for amateur footballers has been unveiled by Catapult Sports.
The elite sports performance analytics firm has launched PLAYERTEK, which is worn on the upper back and features GPS tracking technology.
Data on movement, distance covered, top speed, sprint distance and number of sprints is synced wirelessly to an iOS app on the user鈥檚 mobile device and allows players to accurately track progress and compare themselves to elite footballers and friends.
PLAYERTEK has also established a 鈥榃orld League’, where users can measure their performance globally against the wider community.
鈥淭his is a true world first,鈥 said Benoit Simeray, CEO of consumer at Catapult Sports.
鈥淭his performance wearable brings together a series of cutting-edge technologies, forged in elite sports, in a package for the amateur competitive footballer.
鈥淒eveloped in conjunction with top sport scientists, PLAYERTEK allows non-professionals to benefit from a subset of the insights and analytics used by the coaching staff of the world鈥檚 greatest football teams.
鈥淔or players looking to improve performance and raise their game, the data and insight generated by PLAYERTEK will allow them to see exactly how their performance improves over time.
鈥淣ot only this, but aspiring professionals will be able to measure themselves directly against world-class Premier League players.鈥
Acquired by Catapult Group in 2016, PLAYERTEK joined a family of sports technology companies which has been helping coaches improve elite sport performance for over ten years. Over 1,250 teams and institutions enhance their athletes鈥 performance with Catapult products every day.
PLAYERTEK is available now for pre-order in the UK at a recommended retail price of 拢199 including VAT.
