Wi-Fi provider Purple secures funding to add 100 staff

Wi-Fi provider聽Purple has secured an additional $7 million (拢5.4m)聽investment as it plans to recruit more than 100 new members of staff.

Purple, based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester,聽styles itself as a leader in real-time analytics and marketing for venues and businesses that want to engage with visitors and understand the use of physical spaces.

The investment is made up of a $3.9m (拢3m)聽growth loan from聽Boost&Co and additional funds contributed by existing investors.

Gavin Wheeldon, CEO at Purple, said: 鈥淲e鈥檝e had unbelievable growth over the last few years and this latest investment allows us to continue building momentum.

鈥淥ur platform has now accelerated past 18 million users and the opportunity for physical spaces to lead in analytics and personalised engagement is huge.

鈥淧urple is firmly positioned at the forefront of that market as we develop our presence globally.鈥

Purple will use the funds to recruit in excess of 100 development and sales staff at existing locations, including offices in UK, Spain, the US, Singapore and Australia, plus more international locations as they open.

Wheeldon told 老九品茶Cloud recently that hospitals which do not provide Wi-Fi for patients are missing a huge opportunity for cost savings.
