Manchester-based digital media business KOMI Group has restructured its leadership team.
Sam Lenehan has been promoted to CEO, with founder and current CEO Andrew Trotman stepping into the role of chief revenue officer.聽
Lenehan, who joined KOMI in 2020 and has served as group managing director since 2022, will be tasked with driving further international expansion.
KOMI started out in 2016 as Facebook page It鈥檚 Gone Viral and has since expanded to a team of 120, managing over 40 social media brands and generating in excess of 5bn monthly views.
Its proprietary tool, KOMI Insights, leverages real-time data to spot trends, optimise content and drive results for creators, clients and advertisers.聽
The firm has gone through two significant growth capital investments from BGF, which invested over 拢10m over two rounds in November 2022 and in July 2024.
Over the past four years, the business has grown its audience twenty-fold whilst operating over several social media platforms. In February it reported a 45% year-on-year increase in annual turnover, while it says it is on track to exceed $25m in revenue this year.

鈥淜OMI exists because of a fundamental belief in storytelling, using data backed creativity to build hyper-engaged digital communities,鈥 said Trotman. 鈥淎s the global spotlight on the creator economy intensifies, I鈥檝e never been more excited about where we鈥檙e going.聽
鈥淪am has been at the heart of KOMI鈥檚 growth and success; his leadership, ambition and dedication have shaped our strategy since the very early years of the business鈥檚 inception.
鈥淜OMI is on a mission to be in the top 5 percent of everything we do, which means always challenging ourselves to play the best people in the right positions. And that includes me. With Sam driving the business day-to-day, I鈥檓 free to focus on the highest impact growth levers: monetisation, IP, and new revenue streams.鈥
Lenehan added: 鈥淚鈥檓 genuinely honoured to be recognised in this role. The trust Andrew has consistently placed in the team at KOMI has allowed us to create a really special culture that continues to deliver enviable performance.聽
鈥淢y focus as CEO is to scale our reach, deepen our audience base, and continue delivering investor-grade returns – in the UK and now the US.鈥
The restructure follows the promotion of three senior leaders, announced in March.
